BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- A Windsor, Canada newspaper is reporting that a sporty midsize sedan will be coming to the Belvidere Chrysler plant.
According to the Windsor Star, a senior associate from consulting firm "automotive compass" has confirmed that production of the Alfa Romeo Giulia mid-size sedan will move from Turin, Italy to Belvidere. Turin in return will get the replacement vehicle for the Jeep Compass and Patriot.
The Giulia would compete with luxury performance brands such as the Audi A6 and BMW 5 series. The paper says production will start in January of 2013 in both cases.
A Chrysler spokeswoman tells 23 news, "They have not announced what our production plans are at the Belvidere plant."
