Power Outage Causes Semi-Car Collision

A power outage on Rockford's west side caused a semi and car to collide at the intersection of West State and Meridian.

The Sheriff’s Office had received phone calls minutes before the accident indicating that the lights were not working.

Officers were already en route to the intersection but could not reach the location before the accident occurred. The male occupant of the car was injured but in stable condition when he was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the semi was not hurt. ComEd restored power about an hour and a half after it went out.
