Shots Ring Out in a Rockford Neighborhood

By  |

On Saturday night just before 7 p.m. two suspects entered a home at 3816 Kentucky Drive.

A married couple was home at the time. The male homeowner struggled with the suspects and got the handgun that one of the suspects was armed with. He fired a shot at 27-year-old Jashua Kahl.

Kahl made it out of the home and was found in the street. He was transported to Rockford Memorial where he died during surgery.

The other suspect fled the scene and was later found. Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Borgman of Rockford has been charged with home invasion. So far no one has been charged with shooting Kahl.

Rockford police say the home invasion was drug related.
