The Indian Association of Greater Rockford held a prayer vigil for victims of the tsunami at Rock Valley College Monday night.
About 100 people prayed for victims and survivors. They also discussed what their duty should be in helping out.
Many people in Iagr have donated money for relief. The president of the organization says it's headed in the right direction. Donations will be used to provide water and help surviving fishermen get new boats.
One person we spoke to Monday says it's our duty to carry the load.
"It doesn't matter whether they were in India, Sri Lanka or in Thailand, they are all our brothers and sisters and we feel that way," Mahendra Kapani said.
