A 24-year-old Belvidere man armed with a knife entered J&F Tobacco on Alpine around noon Sunday. The owner, 47-year old Ahmed Abdulla, pulled out his own knife and cane.

He stabbed the suspect twice in the chest and hit him with the cane. The suspect cut Abdulla on the hand and right thigh.

Abdulla was treated and released from a local hospital. The suspect was later arrested in the 2400 block of Holmes Street. He was taken to St. Anthony's for treatment.

Charges are pending.
