Another Local Company Lands Deal with Boeing

Another local company is flying high after landing a deal with Boeing on its newest passenger jet.

Aerospace manufacturer Zodiac Monogram in Machesney Park is hooking up with Boeing. It will build a multi-million dollar waste management system for the new Dreamliner 7E7 Passenger Jet.

"Were excited they've been selected as another 7E7 provider. If you sum up totals of all the contracts to suppliers in area we're approaching $8 billion in terms of supply chain solutions,” says Council of 100 President Bob Levin

Just last week Woodward Governor secured a $400 million contract with Boeing and recently Hamilton Sundstrand landed Boeing contracts worth $6.5 billion.

“Boeing has set up some stringent standards in terms of being able to capture that business and the Rockford region understands what it takes to capture that business” says Levin.

The contracts mean more money's being pumped into the stateline’s economy and could mean more jobs, but Levin says companies must now focus on keeping business here.

“The competition is getting fiercer. It's getting more difficult to manage and Boeing is looking for system solution providers so we have to understand how do we continuously improve the quality of our workforce and our systems?"

The Council of 100, which focuses on attracting and retaining business, hopes continuous improvements will bring more aerospace contracts for Boeing and other manufacturers to the area.
