Sixth Illinois Marine Killed in Iraq This Week

Military officials say Sergeant David Caruso of Naperville died Tuesday in fighting in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq, which includes the city of Fallujah. The 25-year-old was based at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

On Veterans Day Thursday, two other Illinois families received word that their sons had died this week in Iraq.

Corporal Peter Giannopoulos of the Chicago suburb of Inverness died in action in the Babil province, and Lance Corporal Aaron Pickering of Harrisburg in southern
Illinois died fighting to capture the city of Fallujah from insurgents.

The other Illinois Marines who died this week were Nicholas Larson of Wheaton; Branden Ramey of Belvidere and Joshua Palmer of Blandinsville.
