Saving His Business

A 24-year-old suspect from Belvidere entered J&F Tobacco on Alpine around 11:47 a.m. Sunday. The suspect displayed a knife and then the owner 47-year-old Ahmed Abdulla pulled out his knife and cane.

Abdulla stabbed the suspect twice in the chest and hit him with the cane. The suspect cut Abdulla on the hand and right thigh. The store owner was taken to a local hospital and has been treated and released.

The suspect fled the scene and was later found and arrested at the 2400 block of Holmes Street. He was taken to St. Anthony's for treatment. The whole incident was caught on the store’s security camera.

Charges are pending.
