After months of heavy opposition to a proposed jail facility in Ogle County, the board says that they will recommend on Tuesday that the detention center not be built. So does this mean that discussion is finished on this issue?

Ogle County Board Chairman Jerry Daws says that after surveying the opinions of citizens in Ogle County they are withdrawing their name for consideration for the proposed detention center project.

The county was pursuing building a joint 630-bed federal and county facility with the immigration and naturalization service on the south side of Oregon. But with heavy opposition to this project opponents are now considering the board decision to abandon the project a victory.

But residents may not be finished fighting in their efforts to keep this facility from coming to Oregon, the board is hoping the community will see the economic viability of bringing a facility like this to Oregon and is expected to meet with the ins on Tuesday.
