Branden Ramey of Belvidere was killed Monday near Fallujah. His fiancé, Stacey Lee, says Ramey served with a Marine Reserve infantry unit based in Madison, Wisconsin.

Lee says the 22-year-old joined up after graduating from Belvidere High School. He was studying to be a history teacher and played for the semi-professional Belvidere Rush football team last year.

Military officials say a Peoria-based Marine reservist also was killed this week in a non-combat accident in Iraq. A spokesman for the Peoria engineering unit says the Marine drowned when his bulldozer went into the Euphrates River. His name isn't being released, pending notification of relatives.

The spokesman says another Marine who died in the accident wasn't from Illinois.
