ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- 24th Annual Koats for Kids Distribution Day for The Salvation Army
WHEN: October 24, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
WHERE: 416 S. Madison St, Rockford, IL
The coats will be distributed at no charge, directly to anyone who needs a warm coat for this winter. In order to receive coats, individuals must bring proof of those living in the home (for example, photo ID, medical card, etc).
Volunteers are needed for the sorting, hanging, and distribution of donated coats on October 21, 22, and 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m and on October 24 from 8:30 a.m to 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army’s Social Service Center, 416 S. Madison Street, Rockford, IL. Signup online at www.ringbells.org or call the Volunteer Office at 815-962-7207.
Co-sponsors are Second Congregational/First Presbyterian Church, Rockford Register Star, Steiner Electric Company, 23 WIFR and 100.5 NTA FM.
The Salvation Army's Koats for Kids drive is underway and they're asking for your help with coat donations.
The Salvation Army wants to remind everyone that they can only accept coats in good, wearable condition, with no holes, tears or stains. Unfortunately they've had to turn some donations away because the coats were dirty and smelled bad. The, clean, donated coats will go directly to a child that needs a coat for the winter season.
If you're interested in donating there are several collection sites, including Colonial Village, Eagle, Hilander, and Logli Food locations, Valley Self Storage and Heartland Community Church. For more information on the drop sites call the Salvation Army at 985-1937. 23 WIFR is a sponsor of the drive.
