The Public Service Commission in Wisconsin signed off on the project Thursday that allows the American Transmission Company to string a 345-kilovolt line along existing towers. It will be next to one of just three such lines linking Wisconsin and Illinois.
Company spokeswoman Annemarie Newman says the work is expected to start in January, and the $6 million project is scheduled to be in service next summer.
The commission chairwoman, Burnie Bridge, says the project will help reduce transmission constraints and increase energy capacity.
