The Republican Keyes shook hands with suburban Chicago commuters Monday morning, while Obama planned a daylong fly-around across the state.

Keyes greeted people in Naperville and Wheaton in the heart of Republican stronghold DuPage County.

Obama, the Democrat, had scheduled visits from Granite City to Chicago with stops in between at Moline, Rockford, Peoria, Springfield and Urbana.

23 News will have a report on Obama's early afternoon stop in Rockford Monday night at 5, 6 and 10.
