One of the country's largest trucking firms, Schneider National of Green Bay, will pay drivers $4,000 more, about a nine percent raise.

Schneider employs about 12,000 drivers and has contracts with 3,000 more. Its current average pay is $43,000 to $46,000.

Marten Transport of Mondovi is boosting pay by about $3,600 next year. Roehl Transport of Marshfield is also planning a pay increase after a six to eight percent raise his year.

The trucking industry is dealing with a driver shortage as the economy recovers.
