At 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Police of the Machesney Park Division were sent to 10524 Product Drive, a business along the industrial park of Machesney Park.
When the sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, they found that the back window to the business had been forced open. When they entered, deputies noticed a hole in the wall which lead to an adjacent business with numerous marijuana plants being grown indoors, otherwise known as a hydroponic lab.
The Narcotics Unit and Sheriff's Department Detective Division was summoned to the scene. The Narcotics Unit found over 400 cannabis plants. They estimated the street value to be about $5 million.
Police have arrested two men in connection with the bust. Robert Graham of Machesney Park and David Aumann of Loves Park have been charged with unlawful possession of more than 50 cannabis plants. If found guilty, they could serve anywhere between three and seven years in jail.
