Tuesday, the Golden Apple Foundation began the Golden Apple teacher nomination process with the distribution of apples to district schools.
Wednesday morning, Alan Jones helped out at the Rockford Environmental Science Academy by giving two apples to Scott Suma and Ryan Schrock, sixth grade teachers of environmental research.
Throughout the district, 2,300 apples were delivered by community volunteers to bring attention to the nomination process. Kathy Cassioppi, a sixth grade teacher at RESA and a 1999 teacher of distinction says the program certainly helped her.
The golden apple foundation recognizes, rewards, and supports teaching excellence in the Rockford school district.
