Local High School Blood Drive

182 kids at Guilford High signed up to donate blood. It's the second time the school's hosted a drive. School staff says the Rock River Valley Blood Center called on them for help.

They need younger generations to start getting involved and students here were happy to donate both their time and their blood.

Since this blood drive went so well, Guilford plans on hosting another blood drive in the spring.

More schools should host blood drives. Though on the surface, it seems the kids are "skipping class" to donate. But in all actuality, they are doing a great thing. And it also teaches the students to be humble and give back to their community. The are hospitals needs more than 1000 donations per week to cover the units used, and if the area schools were doing what Guilford did and have 100 donations, that is a HUGE step in reaching that weekly goal.
