A Rockford High school student is recovering after he was attacked at school, a beating the student believes came from members of a gang.
On Tuesday, 17-year-old Tim Berger was beat up during gym glass at East High School. Berger suffered cuts and bruises on his forehead and was hospitalized overnight.
The junior says based on his attacker’s chants and body language he thinks they were gang members. Berger says there needs to be better security at the school.
"There should be more people outside, or we shouldn't be outside at all. If there's not enough staff, we should be inside where they can control us more," Berger said. Rockford police say they are investigating the incident.
They wouldn't say if any arrests have been made. The student plans to return to school next week.
