It's one of the fastest growing areas in Winnebago County and Tuesday, that shining spot of economic development got a little brighter.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the $2-million extension project of Perryville road, north of route 173.
It's a joint venture between Winnebago County and Machesney Park.
1,700 feet will be completed this year. The balance of the project will be finished next spring, ultimately connecting Perryville Road to Swanson Road and 251.
Winnebago County board chairman Scott Christiansen says the Perryville corridor has contributed dramatically to the county's tax and job bases.
He says this project is a vital link for creating jobs for the people of Winnebago County.
