The results from the Rockford School District show out of 1,800 failing grades at Jefferson last year, Principal Kenneth Jackson changed nearly half to passing. The reason was because teachers did not keep parents up to date on their kids failing grades.
The report alleges Jackson broke district policy but also says the former superintendent, Dennis Thompson did not provide appropriate guidance. It also says Thompson approved Jackson's actions. The school board has since cleared Jackson of wrongdoing. The state board of education tells 23 News they've requested a copy of this investigation, to see if any codes were broken.
