Left Lane Drivers

A new law targeting slowpokes who block the left lane on state highways has resulted in few tickets in its first several months.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that state police have issued only 39 tickets since the law took effect in January. The law allows $75 fines for drivers who stay too long in the left lane on expressways or interstates. It doesn't apply when drivers are passing, using the left lane to avoid congestion or driving with no traffic behind them.
