Wisconsin is the only state among six in the FDIC's Chicago region that's gained manufacturing jobs in the past year.
At least 1,000 workers have been added in fabricated metals, transportation equipment, plastic and rubber products and printed material.
The FDIC says most of those products are in demand in China. It says exports may be one reason Wisconsin is recovering faster.
The report also says personal income increased 3.6 percent in the first quarter, the biggest annual gain since 2000.
