Bill Sullivan found his three year old dog, Buddy dead on Saturday. The family lives behind Ledges Horse Stable in Roscoe that's where police responded after getting a call that a Lab/Rottwiler mix was foaming at the mouth and appeared dangerous.
Animal control was called but did not arrive until after the dog allegedly lunged at the officer and was shot twice in the chest. The family feels it was an act of cruelty, Roscoe Police say it was an act of self defense.
Right now an internal investigation is underway but the family says that's not enough. They're planning on presenting a petition to the States Attorney Office in an effort to move the case to a criminal investigation.
