DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler is reportedly under a strike deadline set by the UAW.
A person briefed on the latest round of labor talks in Detroit says progress has been made toward a new UAW pact with Chrysler. But the person says there are still difficult issues remaining, and that the union has given the automaker 72 hours' notice of a potential strike.
It's unclear whether the notice would expire on Tuesday or Wednesday.
One labor expert says the notice could be a union tactic to put pressure on the company as the talks intensify. And he says if the deadline passes, the union could extend the contract on an hour-by-hour basis.
