MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Hundreds of self-described geeks descend on Madison this weekend for a convention that includes role playing, video games and lots of science fiction.
Organizers call it Geek-dot-kon -- with kon standing for convention.
Panelist Jackie Lee says the average American doesn't know that a LAN party is, or Warhammer or cosplay. So, like any convention, it's a place for people to share their common interest.
Geek-dot-kon is a registered student organization at U-W Madison made up mostly of members of the university's sci-fi and animation clubs, and the university's East Asian studies department.
The convention will include panel discussions, an art show, animation and science-fiction viewing rooms, the arcade game "Dance Dance Revolution," a masquerade, board games and a mixer.
