ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Two superintendents ago, Dennis Thompson ran Rockford Public Schools. And now he'll return to the Forest City after getting kicked out of his present job.

The Collier County School Board in Naples, FL voted 3-to-2 to not renew Thompson's contract which expires next year.

His work was reviewed last month, and he received a "D" for not communicating well with parents, students or staff.

Thompson left district 205 in 2007.

23 News is told he'll be returning to Rockford once his contract is up.

It's unclear what he'll do for work.

Why do we want to have someone who already did not do a good job with our schools back? It makes no sense to pay for services not delivered. But hey thats the rockford way, we seem to like to pay for what we don't get, rather than what we should get!

Dr. Thompson is a financial whiz. He will have no difficulty finding employment in the financial field if he so desires. He was in finance after he retired from the Army and before entering education.
