ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Help is here for local war heroes looking to get assistance with injuries suffered while serving our country.
The 'Disabled American Veterans' non-profit group rolled through Rockford today with their mobile service.
The DAV helps veterans file claims and get the assistance they need to help speed up the process.
They provide them with everything from counseling to preparing benefits.
One local veteran who became injured while serving in the Army says he just needs help keeping his knee.
"As long as my knee can get me around, they fix this sucker up, bionically or whatever, to get me around so I can do the work for these kids, I'll be one of the happiest people on the planet," said Raymond Tillman, a veteran from Rockford.
If you would like to take advantage of the program, call (312) 980-4242 or visit www.dav.org.
