ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It was oatmeal day!
In an effort to encourage healthy eating several different flavors of oatmeal were served for breakfast. Oatmeal was chosen because oats are a good source of vitamin E, iron and protein.
Nearly 300 hundred students are on the meal plan at the college cafeteria and some say they were looking forward to a tasty treat and a little reminder of home.
"It's really yummy. I was looking forward to the blueberry oatmeal cause I've never had that and the oatmeal cookies at lunch time and it reminds me of home cause we have oatmeal a lot." said Rockford College Junior, Rachel Lott.
Rockford college says even when its not oatmeal day, they make sure to offer a variety of healthy options.
