100th Make-A-Wish Flight Takes Off From Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Every kid dreams about going to Florida and now two kids suffering from life threatening illnesses are hanging out at the beach.

Early Monday morning Jonea Welch, 5, and Takiya Walker, 17, left the Rockford Airport for Orlando, Florida. They were on the 100th Make-A-Wish flight to take off from RFD. Since 2012 Allegiant Airlines has been making local kids dreams come true.Takiya has had a heart problem since she was born and underwent surgery just four days old. Now she says she can't wait to go swimming and ride the roller coasters.

"I've been through a lot. When I was 8 years old I had my first pace maker put in and through on I have had different procedures go on in life and they were not cool but I'm glad I'm here... living.

Jonea's mom Nichole Welch says her son just finished his last round of treatment for leukemia and he can't wait to meet Spiderman. Both kids will get to spend a week in Florida visiting all the theme parks.
