UPDATE: New information about Wednesday night's fatal crash that took the life of a local mother.
Police tell us the passenger who is in critical condition is the victim's 13 year old daughter. Deputies say Beth Baker, 39, of Machesney Park was killed when Matthew Burza, 20, didn't stop at a stop sign on Townhall road and struck her car.
The accident is still under investigation. We will continue to update you on the teen's condition.
UPDATE: BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- We've learned the victim in last night's deadly crash in rural Boone County is 39-year-old Beth Baker of Machesney Park.
Her passenger is still fighting for her life. The Sheriff's Department says 20-year-old Matthew Burza didn't stop at a stop sign on Townhall road and struck Baker's car.
Burza has not been charged, but we're told the crash is still under investigation.
BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- One person is dead and two more are injured after a two-vehicle crash in Belvidere Wednesday night.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department says emergency responders were called to the crash at Spring Creek and Townhall roads before 9 p.m.
According to preliminary investigation, a white Chevy truck traveling northbound on Townhall Road did not stop at a stop sign. It struck a maroon Dodge Spirit traveling west on Spring Creek Road.
20-year-old Matthew Burza is the driver of the truck. He was taken to St. Anthony's with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was taken to St. Anthony's by helicopter. Her injuries are considered severe. Their identities have not been released yet.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges against Burza are pending.
