Future Stars: Rockford Lutheran 8th Grade Boys Win 2nd State Championship
The Rockford Lutheran Crusader 8th grade boys track and field team won the Illinois Lutheran Sports Association State Championship Sunday, in River Forest, IL.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Lutheran Crusader 8th grade boys track and field team won the Illinois Lutheran Sports Association State Championship Sunday, in River Forest, IL. The Crusaders defeated 31 teams throughout IL to claim the state title with a total of 84 points. This is the second state title victory for the 8th grade team this year. Earlier in the year the Crusader 8th grade team brought home the state title and the runner-up title for Nationals in basketball.
Competing for the boys team were: 100 Dash: Antoine Pittman (5th); 400 Meter Dash: Nate Wieting (1st), Adam Pearson (2nd), 800 Meter Run: Nate Wieting (2nd), Adam Pearson (3rd), Ben Chandler (5th); 1600 Meter Run: Adam Pearson (3rd), Ben Chandler (5th); 4x100 Relay: Austin Sikora, Joseph Kellen, Luke Anderson, Antoine Pittman (3rd); 4x200: Eric Hastings, Dario Ingardona, Antoine Pittman, Austin Sikora (4th); 4x400: Ben Chandler, Dario Ingardona, Adam Pearson, Nate Wieting (1st); Long Jump: Joseph Kellen (7th); Shot Put: Daniel Johnson (19th); High Jump: Nate Wieting (3rd), Antoine Pittman (4th), Joseph Kellen (9th). The team was coached by Scott Erdman, Liz Milani and Ben Thompson.
