ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Celebrate Rockford's most anticipated holiday tradition with an outpouring of great seasonal music and holiday cheer. The RSO’s annual Holiday Pops concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, and 3 p.m. Sunday, December 18, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center. The performances are part of the Rockford Health System Pops Series and are graciously sponsored by Alpine Bank.
The concerts will feature a wonderful blend of sacred and traditional holiday melodies including Sleigh Ride, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Silent Night, and Randol Alan Bass’ Gloria and A Feast of Carols. The audience will be invited to lend their voices during a sing-along of carols and holiday tunes! Joining Maestro Steven Larsen and the RSO is the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center’s Mendelssohn Chorale, led by Martha Bein. The winner of the B103 Christmas Choir Competition also will perform. The community can vote for their favorite school choir by visiting www.b103.com. Voting ends Friday.
As an added bonus, the Brass Choir from the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform holiday tunes on the stage of the Coronado at 2:20 p.m. prior to the Sunday performance.
Tickets for this concert are available on the web at www.rockfordsymphony.com or by calling the Rockford Symphony Orchestra Box Office at (815) 965-0049. Ticket prices range from $22 to $60. Student tickets are available for $7 at the box office.
