ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford's Cheap Trick has decided to perform on fewer stages.

Crossed off the list are temporary stages at outdoor music venues. The decision comes in light of what happened at one of their shows in Canada this Summer. A severe thunderstorm caused the stage to collapse. Five people were hurt, including a Cheap Trick truck driver.

Cheap Trick also decided to open a museum and music venue in an old car dealership in Chicago. This isn't expected to get in the way of plans to build Rick's Place in Rockford, the hotel and conference center that's been in the works for a few years.

@Sammy, Dianne and Vicki. The band had a stage collapse while playing. Would it not stand to reason that you would not want to play on a temp stage anymore. Please do a little research and look what this band has given back to this community over the last 30 years. As to the plans for the museum, talk to the local city administrators. While they give all the tax credits to large corporations and out of county businesses they try to play hard ball on this project and blew the deal. End of story. Sammy you must listen to lil john and the wootang clan so you know zero about music. All 3 of you only look on the surface with your uninformed opinions.
