With gas prices hovering around four dollars a gallon it's forcing many families to alter their travel plans and find activities close to home. 23 News reporter Kristin Burke talked to many families who found fun at the Ogle County Fair.

"Attendance has increased nearly 10 percent this year and i think its because of the gas prices," said Harlan Holm, Ogle County Fair Director.

And thats why Holm says the Ogle County Fair is a win-win situation for everyone, especially this year

"We used to go to Gallenburg Tennesse but the price of gas got to high so now we just stay in the area," said Michael Withers.

"Alot of people are staying closer to home and enjoying some of the things offered like the fairs and stuff like that," said

Many fairgoers say they would rather shell out the dough for treats like these than spend it filling up their tank.

"We need to enjoy what were doing and i woud rather spend it in this area than putting it in the take of our car, we need things to do with our kids.

And with fair season underway many other fair officials hope they to can profit off of the high gas prices, and keep more families closer to home.
