Visitors can look through windows to see how DNA is extracted from plants and animals, sequenced and then analyzed. The Field Museum says one day, visitors could watch scientists sequencing DNA from an East African frog. The next day, researchers might be comparing DNA of lichens from Antarctica. The surrounding exhibit includes videos and displays. Visitors can also use a touch-screen kiosk to learn about research projects around the world that address the Earth's biodiversity. Shannon Hackett is one of the exhibit's planners. She says the Field Museum wants visitors to leave knowing that DNA is the thread that connects all life on Earth.
