WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton's unqualified endorsement of Barack Obama's presidential campaign has inspired a wave of Democratic endorsements and a new Republican Web page.

As soon as Clinton finished her speech in which she formally announced an end to her campaign, a wave of superdelegates across the country who had pledged their support to her released statements announcing they would now back Obama.

At Clinton's event in Washington, some backers said they would reluctantly support Obama in the general election. One man described it as "a somber day" and said it would be tough "after being against Obama so long."

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee quickly launched a "Clinton vs. Obama" page on its Web site, drawing attention to her criticism of Obama during the campaign.
