BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Less than a week after Chrysler announces plans to bring more than 1,800 jobs to the Belvidere plant, local suppliers are also starting to ramp up hiring.
Josh Brady says " What I was making there wasn't enough to make ends meet."
When it comes to finances, Brady's former job just wasn't cutting it, "It's been really stressful I was cutting hair at Dukes and Lords and it was a good company to work for, but the money was low and I need the benefits."
Brady just got word he's one of 18 hundred new workers to be hired at Belvidere's Chrysler Plant, and while he's not sure what parts he'll assemble, he's happy to watch his hourly wage build, " I think it will be nice for me I can get my own car and move out go from there".
Brady's salary will more than double come his first day at the plant Saturday.
The numbers are also increasing for Belvidere's nine suppliers. Mark Williams with Growth Dimensions says the companies will likely expand their workforce to keep up with demand from the plant.
"You're talking about 18 hundred jobs that are just at the plant and those in itself will have feeder jobs because it is a primary employment job a job that produces products that are event exported".
Williams is working on a report that will determine how many new jobs will come from Chrysler's recent hiring, "Those dollars come back in as paychecks to the residents who live here and then those paychecks help support the purchase of goods locally so that dollar circulated in the economy."
And as that dollar spreads throughout the Stateline, workers like Brady say they are looking forward to spreading the wealth.
Growth Dimensions say we've had four new suppliers come to the area in the last year.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate you lettimg me know. I actually saw the article about 10 minutes ago saying they stopped taking applications. Just another let down for me. Thanks again & have a nice day. :)
The company has closed their job websites after getting more than 7500 applications. Last last week they informed 23 News that there were thousands of those apps which still needed to be reviewed.
I went to the websites listed immediately and they both say Chrysler does not have any hourly positions open.... How on earth do you apply for a job? The couldn't have already hired 1800 people the same day as this broadcast. What's the trick? I would like to apply...correction, i need to apply. Any info or help would be much appreciated.
