The Chippewa Tribes have options on adjacent land where there were plans to build a hotel and water park.

A big blow tonight for an Indian tribe looking to build a casino in Beloit. A rival tribe buys the land from right under their feet.

The Ho-Chunk nation purchased half of an 80 acre parcel.. between Willowbrook Road and Colley Road in Beloit.

That's the same spot the Saint Croix and Bad River Chippewa Bands want to build a casino. But they were waiting on the application approval before making a bid.

Chippewa spokesperson Joe Hunt says the Ho-Chunk purchase doesn't mean the bets are off for the casino.

He says both parties will sit down in the next few weeks and discuss the issue.

The Chippewa casino application was rejected earlier this year. The tribes are suing the government over that decision.
