Golfers wrap up stroke and match play after two-rounds in Rockford Classic

Rockford, Ill. (WIFR) The first weekend of the 2017 Rockford Golf Classic saw two rounds of play, resulting in a three-way tie for first in the men's division, and switching from stroke to match play in the women's division.

Jamie Hogan, Kyle Slattery, and Jeff Holmgaard have a three-way tie for first place at a two-day total of 142. Hogan and Slattery, the defending champion, each shot two 71's at Sandy Hollow and Ingersoll, while Holmgaard shot a 72 and a 70, respectively.

Mick Hockinson follows closely behind in second place at 143, and tied for fourth is Danny Gorman and Matt LaMarca at 144.

Melissa VanSistine defeated Maggie Kaiser 7 & 6 to punch her ticket to the semifinals. VanSistine will next face Kristen Sayyalinh, who won over Hui Chong Dofflemyer 2 & 1 to advance. Kristen's sister Katelyn Sayyalinh beat out Carson Racich 3 & 1, putting both Sayyalinh sisters in the semi-finals. Katelyn will take on Jesse Slattery, who eliminated Natalie Hooper 2 & 1.

The women's semifinals and men's third round will be played at Elliot on Saturday, with the championship match moving to Aldeen next Sunday.
