Stillman Valley survives, beats Boylan for 3A regional championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Stillman Valley rallied from a 3-2 deficit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3 in extra innings to beat Boylan for the 3A regional title.

Each team gave up early 2-run home runs. That would be the only scoring until the fifth when the Titans successfully executed a suicide squeeze.

Down to his final strike, Evan Christenson knocked in Tyler Lamer to tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh.

With momentum on their side, the Cardinals won the game after Luke Stoner's throw to first baseman Joey Tobin got away from him, allowing Lamer to score from third.

It is Stillman Valley's second regional title in three years.
