BYRON, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Byron girls basketball team cruised through the playoffs this past spring winning every game by no less than nine points on their way to a state title, and now they are back for more with pretty much the same team.
The Lady Tigers are coming off of a 33-3 season and return four starters from their championship winning squad.
Adding on to the four seniors, head coach Eric Yerly is excited about his junior class which went 23-4 and won conference.
Yerly says they are trying to keep the same mindset they ended with last season with so hopefully the pressure does not get to them.
"It keeps the kids hungry," said Yerly. "We talk about keeping that edge that got us there last year. so that's kind of been our motto this year to keep working hard and don't let up because as soon as you start to let up, someone's going to pass you up."
"It definitely adds a little pressure on it," said senior forward Sarah Hopkins. "Everyone's going to be expecting a great season, but I think that some pressure isn't always a bad thing because it's really good for our aggressiveness and how we want to win."
