Lincoln, Neb. Northern Illinois intercepted Nebraska three times leading up to their 21-17 victory in Lincoln on Saturday afternoon.
NIU's defense picked off a Nebraska pass attempt two times in the first quarter, first from Shawun Lurry for the 87-yard touchdown, then another by Jawuan Johnson for the 25-yard score. The Huskies led 14-0 on those interception returns before the Cornhuskers got on the board. Nebraska was held scoreless in the first half at home for the first time since 2007.
NIU extends their record to 4-5 against the Big Ten under head coach Rod Carey.
