ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) 2014 and 2015 were a bit of an anomaly of what is expected at Boylan. 11 losses matched the worst stretch for the titans since the '72 and '73 seasons, but a resurgent 2016 has returned the green and gold to their storied glory.
Boylan heads into a season as the NIC-10 champs for the first time since 2014 after suffering just one loss to East last year.
Head coach John Cacciatore says he's trying to find a good balance between the run and pass games, and he is expecting to have a good mix of seniors and juniors lighting it up on Friday nights.
However, the Titans are ready to get the best from their opponents especially Belvidere North in week one.
"Everyone's making this their Super Bowl and everyone's preparing as if this is the biggest game of the season so we can't prepare for any team for any less than that," said Cacciatore. "We know we're going to get everybody's best Friday night. I'd like to think other teams are thinking the same way but with every team coming at you and giving you their best shot, your work and your preparation has to be perfect on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to be ready to go on Friday."
"We have the same motivation every week," said senior quarterback Joseph Strauss. "We don't look down on opponents and we don't really look up to any. We have a standard here at Boylan. It's the gold standard. We look at everybody the same and we play as hard as we can every week."
