CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (WIFR) For the second year in a row, Boylan won the sectional championship with a 51-38 victory over Hononegah.
Sophomore Peyton Kennedy played a major role in the game, scoring 18 points for the 32-0 Lady Titans.
For Boylan, the win was all about defense.
"Our kids know defense is the key to our success," said head coach Paul Perrone. "They just battle and they love to play defense. As Peyton said last time, defense is our best offense."
"We've been priding ourselves on our defense all year long so we knew we weren't going to change from that," said senior McKenzie Brown. "We played until the end the last time we played them. We came out slow and we knew we had to play because there was a lot on the line tonight."
The Lady Titans will battle defending state champion Geneva on Monday at the 4A Streamwood Super-Sectional.
