Boylan battles to 3A sectional title win

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WIFR) -- Although many doubted Boylan at the beginning of the season, here the Titans are in another sectional final.

Behind senior Ben Ambrose's 22 points, Boylan was able to edge out Burlington Central for the 3A Woodstock North sectional title with a 57-55 win.

"We've been doubted all year and this team never quits, it's a special group of guys," said Ambrose. "We knew that we had to dig in defensively because that's a great scoring team but we just kept getting after them on defense and the shots were starting to fall and we ended out on top."

A pair of sophomores in Johnny Close and Jon Starck each added 11 points, while junior Jake Bergstrom scored 10.

"We weren't even projected to do pretty well in conference and to come out here and make a run in the postseason means the world to me" said senior Jack Zuba.

Boylan will face North Chicago in the Class 3A Super-Sectional at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates on Tuesday night.
