World War II Veteran receives diploma, 73 years later

KALKASKA, MI (WWTV) -- It's a moment more than seven decades in the making for an 89-year-old World War II veteran.

Milton Mockerman never graduated from Kalkaska High School in Michigan, after lying about his age to enlist in the Navy back in 1944 during World War II.

However, once the war was over, Mockerman couldn't receive his diploma after the school and his records were destroyed in a fire.

More than 73 years later, Mockerman walked across the stage with the class of 2017, finally receiving his diploma.
