Woman cited after being struck by Rockford police squad car

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford woman has been cited after she was struck by a marked squad car back in January.

According to investigators, 58-yea-rold Beverly Horton was walking in the road near the 2900 block of West State Street when she was hit by a Rockford Police Department squad car.

Horton has been cited for improper walking in the roadway.


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A woman in her 50s remains in stable condition at an area hospital after she was hit by a squad car.

Rockford police say the accident happened just after 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of West State Street.

Police say the officer driving the squad car was transporting a subject to a local hospital when the accident occurred. The subject was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The officer was not hurt.

All lanes were closed for several hours after the accident.
