MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- Recent rainfall has caused flooding concerns all across the stateline, creating rising river levels in both Roscoe and Machesney Park neighborhoods.
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Cauana said just after 10 Sunday morning the Rock River had reached more than 12 feet near Latham Park, causing flood concerns for the Edgemere Terrance area in Rosoce and Shore Drive neighborhood in Machesney Park. The River is expected to crest at 12.6 feet.
The sheriff's department, area fire departments, village personnel and the Rock River Home Owners Association are on standby if evacuation becomes necessary. Caruana says the Fordam dam is open as much as possible to help decrease river levels.
Sandbags are available and can be picked up at the Roscoe Public Works Station. Sheriff Caruana advises drivers to avoid going through standing water on the roadways.
Those who have an emergency situation are advised to call 911. For non-emergencies call 815-282-2600.
