Three teens arrested after being found with a gun, drugs in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Deputies arrest three teens after authorities say they're found with a loaded handgun and 10-30 grams of marijuana.

The Winnebago County's Sheriff's Office says a K-9 unit pulled over a car driven by a 17-year-old with 16-year-old and 13-year-old passengers just after 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say the marijuana was packaged for selling and the gun had been defaced to remove the serial numbers.

The 16-year-old admitted to possessing the recovered items, was taken to juvenile detention and charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a handgun, aggravated unlawful possession of a handgun by a person under 21 years of age, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, violation of the cannabis control act and possession with intent to deliver 10-30 grams of cannabis.

The 13-year-old was also taken to juvenile detention on an outstanding warrant.

The 17-year-old was also taken to juvenile detention and was later released on traffic charges.

All three are considered innocent until proven guilty.
