Tentative agreement for school funding

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Talks continue that could lead to funding for Illinois schools.

RPS 205 Superintendent Ehren Jarret says today following the announcement of a tentative agreement quote: “We are encouraged by the progress in Springfield, and we are eager to learn more about the agreement. We remain hopeful an agreement will bring additional resources to RPS 205 and put our students closer to the educational adequacy target.”

Details within the agreement have not yet been released, but democratic and republican state leaders will meet Sunday before the house convenes on Monday. Negotiations yesterday led to the announcement that an agreement had been reached for both house and Senate leaders. House speaker Michael Madigan says without an agreement on new legislation he would schedule a veto override vote for next week.
